The Team

our story

Team Brain Injury Support have been supporting children and adults with an acquired brain injury, and delivering care for those with a neurological condition, since 2005.

We are proud to say we have supported individuals for as long as we have been providing specialist brain injury and complex care support in the community. We also have staff that have been with us since Team Brain Injury Support was established. For us, this shows we are succeeding when it comes to delivering a quality service to those we support and taking care of our staff members.

MEET THE TEAM
Sarah McHugh
Sarah McHugh
Operations Director at Team
Sarah has worked within the Health & Social Care sector for over 18 years, the vast majority of which has been spent providing clinical and support services to help individuals with complex care needs live independently in their own homes.

“I love the huge satisfaction (and overcoming the challenges!) that delivering great care provides. Our clients are the most important consideration, and meeting their differing needs and requirements means that there is never a dull, nor repetitive day in health care.  I consider it a privilege to support people and to facilitate their choices, however small, enabling them to live the life that they want to live.”

Sarah considers herself very fortunate to have always worked with a great team of people, whose primary objective is to ensure individuals remain safe and supported. Watching people progress in their rehabilitation through the right support and enabling an individual to participate in an activity which they never thought possible are two of the main reasons why Sarah continues to work within the sector.
Kelly Payne
Kelly Payne
Operations Manager at Team
Kelly has been a part of the Team family for the past 14 years and admits it’s been quite a journey! Joining as a Recruitment Consultant in 2007, Kelly’s career with Team has seen her work within several roles, including Care Coordinator, Area Manager and Branch Manager, before being appointed to her current role of Operations Manager at the start of 2021. Asked why she has chosen to stay with Team for over a decade, Kelly told us that she is driven by her devotion to the support staff, nurses and the people Team look after, as well as their families.

“I view us as a family centred organisation, and we aim to support our individuals with as much care and empathy as we do for our own family and friends. There are lots of staff members who have remained with me throughout my journey at Team and they are honestly the most incredibly hard-working people you will ever meet! Although we don’t claim to be perfect, Team strives to deliver high standards of care and support for all.”

Kelly’s motto is “Treat people how you want to be treated” and has found this to stand her in good stead during her years at Team.
Hester Hucklebridge
Psychologist at Team
Hester has worked with Team Brain Injury Support since 2013, initially as a support worker and progressing through to a Psychologist. Hester has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Principles of Applied Neuropsychology. She has supported individuals from a range of backgrounds, living with varying degrees of cognitive and physical ability. Hester has experience of working cases in litigation and settled status, effectively working with outside professionals as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Rebecca Box
Rebecca Box
Lead Complex Nurse Specialist at Team
Beki has worked as a Registered Nurse Manager within complex neurological care for the past 7 years. As a naturally caring person, Beki is exceptionally passionate about her role and strives to support every individual to do what they enjoy in life.

“It’s great to be part of a wider team which support people and their families to set and achieve goals on their journey, often during a very challenging time in their lives. I love to trouble shoot, risk assess and think outside the box in order to give the individuals we support at Team the best opportunity to follow their aspirations.”

Having worked within complex care for a number of years, Beki considers herself fortunate to have been, and continue to be, a part of so many people’s incredible journeys and she could not imagine a more fulfilling career.
Liz Rusdale
Liz Rusdale
Quality and Compliance Manager at Team
Liz joined Team in 2006 and, since then, has worn many different hats within the company. This includes working within a compliance and recruitment capacity, becoming an Area Manager and then progressing into her current role as Quality and Compliance Manager.

Liz was very much involved with Team Brain Injury Support at its inception, starting in a small office in Bournemouth, and feels privileged to have watched the company grow and flourish to it’s current national status.

“I have personal experience of the devasting impact a brain injury can have, not only on the person affected, but also on their family and friends. In a split second your whole world is turned upside down and things will never ever be the same again! I truly believe that with the right care and support, this can make an immeasurable difference to the person’s quality of life and their wellbeing.”

Liz admits that being able to make that difference to a person’s life is her reason for driving Team Brain Injury Support to be one of the best specialist care providers in the sector, providing the highest quality of support for those individuals and their families.
