Introduction to Brain Injury

Pre- requisites

There are no pre-requisites to attending this course only that you are in the process of joining Team Brain Injury as a support worker. You will not be able to work with our clients until you have completed this study day. 

Overview

This course is designed for support workers new to Brain Injury. It is an introduction to the world of brain injury.

• Anatomy and physiology of the brain
• Causes of brain injury
• Impact of the brain injury on the individual
• Impact of the brain injury on the wider family and community
• Rehabilitation approaches
• Effective support working

The course examines what makes support work and support workers effective, using a variety of workshops and exercises to examine situations and difficulties.
